On October 22, 2021, Commonwealth Catholic Charities (CCC) will be presented with a $10,000 donation from Asian American Society of Central Virginia (AASoCV). The donation will support CCC’s response to the Afghan refugee crisis.
“We are grateful to the Asian American Society of Central Virginia for this generous donation,” said Kathleen McCormac, development officer. “We are thrilled to partner with AASoCV to welcome and support our new neighbors as they settle into their lives here in Virginia.”
Over the years, CCC has assisted thousands of refugees from around the world who have escaped war, violence, and persecution. Through CCC’s refugee resettlement program refugees receive assistance with housing, education, and a wide variety of supportive services to ensure their long-term stability and success.
Since August, CCC has assisted nearly 250 Afghan refugees and expects to assist hundreds more in the weeks and months ahead.
